The Cabinet will today consider the interim report by Mr Justice Brian Cregan on the planned inquiry into the sale of assets by the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation but will not decide on how to fix the problems raised.
Mr Justice Cregan’s initial report on his inquiry into transactions by the IBRC was received by the Government last Friday and will be published in the coming days. However, the Cabinet will not finalise what action it will take to allow the commission of inquiry to continue with its investigation.
It is understood a High Court judge may be asked to decide if confidential documents can be used. Emergency legislation is also being considered.
