Duncan Smith (36) has been involved with the Labour Party for more than a decade and was elected to the seat the party has held in north county Dublin for many years.

He has served as parliamentary assistant to the former Labour TD for the Fingal constituency Brendan Ryan.

He was director of elections for the party in Fingal in the general elections in 2011 and 2016. He has also served as Dublin Fingal director of elections for presidential, European and byelections since 2011.

Smith was elected to Fingal County Council in June 2014 and re-elected in 2019.
