Motorists are advised to remain cautious this morning after freezing weather made roads icy overnight.

The National Roads Authority reports road surface temperatures were close to zero around Tallaght, Tullamore, Tuam, Kilkenny, Clonmel, Nenagh, Mitchelstown, Charleville and Abbeyfeale at 8.30am.

Dublin Bus said Route 44B is now back serving Glencullen, while all other route curtailments put in place yesterday morning due to bad weather have been lifted.

Care is still advised around the Sally Gap, Wicklow Gap and across the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains, where snow of several centimetres remains after snowfall yesterday and overnight. Further snow is expected there today.

Today, east Ulster and most of Leinster will stay damp and misty with further showery outbreaks of rain and sleet. While dense fog in Leinster will thin out, it will remain misty and there will be further rain with sleet on high ground.

By contrast, Munster and parts of Connacht can expect a cold, bright, sunny and dry day.

Tonight, temperatures will drop back to -1 to -3 degrees. Any frost will clear during the night as cloud thickens and rain reaches Munster before morning.

Tomorrow will be cold, wet and windy, with sleet or snow for a time and highest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees.
