Two media firms operated by two of Ireland 's most popular and best-paid broadcasters, Marian Finucane and Joe Duffy, enjoyed contrasting fortunes last year, new figures show.

According to accounts recently filed by Finucane’s Montrose Services Ltd to the Companies Office, accumulated profits at the firm increased by €206,641 from €584,272 to €790,913 in the 12 months to the end of October 31st last.

The firm’s cash during the year increased by more than €100,000 from €201,192 to €307,047. The firm values Finucane’s image rights at €600,000.

New figures lodged by Duffy’s Claddagh Green Ltd to the Companies Office show that the firm’s accumulated profits dipped by €30,087 from €154,502 to €124,415 in the 12 months to the end of April last.

The firm’s cash declined during the same period from €199,833 to €151,845.

The most recent published figures by RTÉ for presenters' salaries are for 2009.

They revealed Finucane’s firm was paid €513,270 and Duffy’s €389,314.
