NOT LONG after the crash, survivor Donal Walsh was able to send out a text to Adams Jones, director of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students in Ireland, stating, “I am fine with very minor injuries all things considered. Thank God.”

Mr Walsh, who is in his 20s, is a recent graduate of the Waterford Institute of Technology, working as a volunteer with the fellowship in Cork. He is on a one-year intern programme with the interdenominational evangelical group.

He was returning from fellowship events in Belfast when the accident happened. “He miraculously walked away from this tragic accident, escaping with minor injuries,” said Mr Jones. He said that he spoke to Mr Walsh shortly after the crash. “He literally walked out of the plane, muddied but alive. . . Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of those who lost their lives, the others injured and those dealing with the aftermath of the crash.”
