MULTINATIONAL ST Patrick’s Day celebrations will take place on water in the Catalan capital of Barcelona next weekend, with a Mediterranean currach regatta in the city’s port.

The fourth annual regatta is being hosted by the Iomramh Cultural Association, founded by Barcelona-based Dublin artist Mark Redden and businessman Aodhán King.

Iomramh’s aim is to nurture creative projects, and already Mr Redden has built several currachs with groups as part of the organisation’s focus on establishing “deeper links between Irish and Mediterranean maritime” sectors.

The regatta on March 18th, from 1pm to 4pm, will involve currach oarspeople of all nationalities who participated in the project.
