Three people killed in two-car collision in Co Meath

Three people in their 20s have died and a boy is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash in Co Meath on New Year’s Eve.

Two cars collided on the N52, Lloyds, Kells at 4.15pm.

A woman in her 20s, who was the driver of one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the car, a man in his 20s, was treated at the scene before being brought to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he passed away en route.

The driver of the other car, a woman in her 20s, was also brought to Connolly Hospital, where she later died.

The passengers in her car, two girls and a  boy, were brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. The boy has since been transferred to Temple Street Children's Hospital.

The road was closed to allow Garda forensic collision investigators to examime of the scene but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collission to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and who may have camera footage are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
