A 27-year-old man has been released on bail pending further inquiries following the theft of three parrots from the Seaforde Gardens and Tropical Butterfly House in Co Down on Monday.
The parrots - two African greys and an Amazonian - have since been handed back to their owner. On Wednesday two of the parrots were returned to the tourist attraction by a member of the public while the third parrot was discovered by police during a search of a property in the Burnreagh Drive area of Newtownards, Co Down.
The PSNI said that at the Newtownards property a number of other items, including boxes of washing powder which are believed to have been stolen during burglaries in the Co Down area in recent days, were recovered.
The 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of four counts of burglary, handling stolen goods and possession of Class B and Class C drugs. He was released on bail pending further enquiries.
