A man injured in an assault last month in Swords Co Dublin has died in Beaumont Hospital.

Taiwo Jamani, a 45-year-old Nigerian national, was assaulted on Main Street in the town.

A postmortem took place today carried out by the Deputy State pathologist Dr Curtis.

A 37-year-old man, Jooda Akanbi with an address in Swords, is currently before the courts in relation to assaulting Mr Jamani.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity and may have witnessed the incident which took place at approximately 12.20 on October 10th or who may have recorded any images on mobile phones or cameras to contact the incident room in Swords at 01 6664700.
