A woman in her late 40s is being treated in hospital after a serious stabbing incident at a house in Co Cavan, gardaí say. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The woman was injured at the house in Kilnaleck on the afternoon of Christmas Eve.
She is being treated at Cavan General Hospital for serious stab wounds.
The man in his 50s is being held at Cavan Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
