Man (70s) treated for injuries after being assaulted in Co Sligo robbery

Men forced their way into home on N59 in Skreen and a sum of cash was taken

An elderly man has been assaulted during a robbery in his home in Co Sligo on Tuesday evening.

A number of men forced their way into a house on the N59 in Skreen about 7pm yesterday and assaulted a man in his 70s.

The man was brought to Sligo University Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

A sum of cash was also taken during the incident, according to gardaí.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses in relation to this aggravated burglary to come forward.

They are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Skreen or Dromard area from 4-8pm yesterday.

They are also asking for anyone with camera footage from the area at this time (including dash-cam) to make it available to gardaí.
