Gardaí are encouraging members of the public to come forward with information on a missing couple who have not been seen for two weeks.

Willie Maughan (34) and Latvian national Anastasija (Anna) Varslavane (20) were last seen in Gormanston, Co Meath, on the afternoon of Sunday, April 14th. According to the Mr Maughan's parents, the pair were packing their belongings ahead of moving back to his family home in Tallaght when they disappeared.

Joseph Maughan told RTÉ's Liveline last week that he feared his son may have been abducted after refusing to partake in an assassination attempt. "Willie was offered to do something. He has a conscience. They were asking him to kill somebody," he said, alluding to a criminal gang with whom his son had been in contact due to a previous drug habit.

According to gardaí, both individuals were known to frequent the Balbriggan, Stamullen and Gormanston areas along the Dublin-Meath border.
