A man has been arrested in connection with last November’s anti-water charge protest in Jobstown, Dublin.  The arrest brings to 21 the number of people detained as part of the investigation into the demonstration.

A man has been arrested in connection with last November's anti-water charge protest in Jobstown, Dublin.

The arrest brings to 21 the number of people detained as part of the investigation into the demonstration held on November 15th.

The man (30) is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Tallaght Garda station.

His arrest comes after a series of protests in recent days, which organisers said were held to highlight the issue of “political policing” targeting the anti-water charge movement.

A rally outside the Department of Justice last Thursday was followed by a march outside Tallaght Garda station on Saturday which was attended by between 500 and 700 people.

Socialist Party TD Paul Murphy is among those who have been arrested in connection with the November 15th protest, which saw Tánaiste Joan Burton trapped in her car for more than two hours.

According to gardaí, accusations against those being questioned include false imprisonment and public order offences.
