Five hospitalised after taking suspected tainted drugs

Emergency services called to Co Limerick apartment after person started to vomit uncontrollably

Gardaí are investigating after five people were taken to hospital after consuming what gardaí believe to have been tainted drugs at a house party.

Ambulance personnel and gardaí were called to an apartment in Newcastle West, Co Limerick, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Emergency services arrived at the apartment in Market Court at about 4am after receiving a phone call that one person in the apartment had started to vomit uncontrollably.

Three women and two men, all aged in their late 20s to early 30s, were treated at University Hospital Limerick.

It’s believed they had taken tainted drugs, possibly cocaine.

According to gardaí, the exact composition of the drugs consumed will not be known until an analysis of samples is completed.

The five people have been discharged from hospital and are recovering at home.
