Bobby Ryan murder to feature on Crimecall

Body of grandfather found in disused storage pit

The murder of a grandfather whose decomposed body was found in a disused storage pit is to feature in the next RTÉ Crimecall programme in an attempt to secure information.

Gardaí have confirmed the body found two weeks ago on farmland between Tipperary town and Bansha is that of Bobby Ryan (52), who was missing since June of 2011.

DNA analysis had to be used to confirm identity after samples were taken from the victim’s children Michelle and Robert.

Detectives have not released the results of a postmortem carried out the day after discovery of the body, but it is understood Ryan was beaten to death.
