The British government must not cave in to the Democratic Unionist Party's "inflated 68 pages of demands", SDLP leader Mark Durkan said today.

Speaking after a meeting with Taoiseach Bertie Ahern in Government Buildings today Mr Durkan said the unionist veto in the peace process is gone since the IRA decommissioned.
"The IRA failure to decommission gave unionists a veto over re-establishment of the Good Friday institutions," Mr Durkan said.
"The IRA has decommissioned, and that unionist veto must now be gone. That was our message to the Taoiseach and it is the message both governments must give to the DUP."
In reference to the controversial Whiterock Orange march in Belfast in September, Mr Durkan added: "We doubt their commitment to the lawful society after their behaviour over the Whiterock parade. And we doubt their commitment to inclusive democracy when they seek to undermine the Good Friday Agreement."
Mr Durkan the two governments must send a "strong signal" to both Sinn Féin and the DUP that there will be "no hole in the wall for each of them to get concessions out of the two governments."
"Tony Blair needs to tell the DUP where to go - back into the institutions."
