Protest over police brutality outside Turkish Embassy in Dublin

About 70 people attended a protest outside the  Turkish Embassy on Raglan Road in Dublin this afternoon.

Director of Amnesty International Ireland Colm O'Gorman said he was delighted with the turnout, which was called to highlight police brutality towards peaceful protestors in Turkey over the last two weeks, which has led to thousands of injuries.

“Prime minister [Tayyip] Erdogan now bears personal responsibility for the violence that immediately followed his words,” Mr O’Gorman said.

“Peaceful protest must be respected and the international community must urge him to change tack to prevent further unnecessary bloodshed.”
