If you're thinking of renting a room to generate some extra income – and let's face it, who hasn't seen their spare bedroom in a new light since the arrival of Airbnb? – check out the online rental agency Spotahome.

Founded in 2014 and focused on the medium to long-term rental market, it has been operating in Ireland for the past two years but is struggling to keep up with the demand for properties.

"We continue to experience strong interest in Dublin for rooms and apartments from those looking to work, or study, in Ireland," says Melissa Lyras of Spotahome.

Supply

“It is no secret that currently demand for beds far outweighs supply, especially in Dublin. We are looking for property owners or families with a spare room who would consider renting a room for one month up to 12 months, or more.”
