Tried and Tested: Spring make up palettes

There’s a palette out there for everyone and if you choose wisely you should be able to use up every shade

Bobbi Brown Nude on Nude Eye Palette, €46

There’s a reason why there are so many nude palettes around. They’re extremely wearable and flatter the vast majority of complexions. Matte palettes in particular are great for daytime use and this five shade offering combines soft peaches and nueutrals with a deep chocolate shade for emphasis. Ideal for daytime use or creating a soft smoky eye at night.

Good quality, if perhaps not as highly pigmented as Naked 3, but that’s fine by me considering the price difference.

Dior 5 Couleurs Glowing Gardens Eyeshadow Palette, €60

I’ll be honest; I do get a bit jaded when writing about nude palettes sometimes. However as I pointed out above they’re here to stay. Dior on the other hand could not be less neutral if they tried this season and I am highly delighted. Vibrant and fresh colours feature in their two five colour palettes and while I dislike the overused term “pop of colour”, in this case I think I am justified. Pop!

Clinique Pretty Easy Lip Palette

A good lip palette like this is endlessly versatile. Mix the colours to create a bespoke shade just for you to suit the occasion or your mood. This is a great makeup bag staple and you should hit pan with every shade.

Maybelline Blushed Nudes Eye Palette, €14.99

If you liked the shade range in the Urban Decay 3 palette then this will be right up your street. Good quality, if perhaps not as highly pigmented as Naked 3, but that’s fine by me considering the price difference. A lovely mix of matte and shimmer finishes in pinks, soft nudes and deeper accent colours.

Nars NARSissist L’amour Toujours Eyeshadow Palette, €59

A clever use of neutrals together with accent colours means that this is one of the more versatile palettes around at the moment. Highly pigmented matte, shimmer and glitter shades all combine to make this a palette you can use for any occasion.
