And the Young Designer of the Year is...

Dublin Fashion Festival took over the Bank of Ireland last night for the Young Designer of the Year show.


Dublin Fashion Festival was in full swing last night as the Young Designer of the Year fashion show took place under the colums of the Bank of Ireland. 12 finalists from around the country displayed thier pieces for Ireland's leading fashion commentators, designers, stylists and buyers.

Claire Lynam -NCAD gradute and last year's winner- was there to pass on her title after a successful year, Claire is now enjoying the position of design assistant at River Island in London. Clyde Carroll, director of Dublin Fashion Festival commented, “the designs from the young Irish designers last year was very impressive. We’ve a huge amount of talent in this country for fashion design and we’re delighted to use the festival as an opportunity to support and showcase our young designers.”

After an impressive show from the finalists, including extremely technically intricate tailoring and design, the winner was announced. 22-year-old Ciaran Gormley from Belfast was named the Dublin Fashion Festival Young Designer of the Year after showcasing a particularly beautiful blue knit. We're sure Ciaran has a exciting year ahead of him as Ireland 'next big thing' in fashion.

22-year-old Ciaran Gormley from Belfast was named the Dublin Fashion Festival Young Designer of the Year last night, September 4th. He was among 12 finalists who showcased their designs at a catwalk show outside the Bank of Ireland on College Green.
