Waterford’s O Emperor have been knocking on doors for only a short time, yet they’ve already been welcomed into the kitchen and are being plied with mugs of hot chocolate.

With a major record label now paying attention to them, it seems that Waterford’s imminent loss will be the nation’s gain. A well-received debut single (Po) has had the band cracking open the champagne bottles. Their layered, multifaceted sound is pitched somewhere between Grizzly Bear and The Cure. A new single, recorded in Wales’ Rockfield studios, will be released shortly.

In the meantime, experience this lot in small venues while you can. Special guests include highly praised new UK acts Alessi’s Ark and Sons of Noel and Adrian.
