Ms Mr: How Does It Feel | Album Review

How Does It Feel

Artist: Ms Mr
Genre: Pop
Label: Columbia

The second album by Ms Mr poses a presumably rhetorical question; in other words, Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow aren’t particularly interested in how it feels. That level of apathy goes for the New York duo’s music, too.

Although it's essentially synthpop, the duo are lacking the essential "pop" component of the genre, leaving songs like No Guilt in Pleasure and Cruel sounding gloomily devoid of any strong hook or melodic spark.

The skitterish balladry of Wrong Victory vaguely evokes a '90s trip-hop vibe and the shady stride of Leave Me Alone borrows from Fever Ray, but even the chorus of the title track sounds painfully generic.

At best, it's serviceable, but really, how does it feel? A little lacklustre, to be honest. Msmrsounds.com
