In a time when it seems every DJ is passing themselves off as a producer, it’s refreshing to come across Jack Reville who is content to play tracks made by others and not push his own agenda.
The Glaswegian's DJ-Kicks set is a great showcase for the Numbers label boss's nous as a DJ as he delivers a mix that packs considerable punch. Unlike his live sets, which are mesmerising walks on the wild side powered by a widescreen selection process, Revill keeps largely to the techno and house etchings and scratchings here.
The hits and thrills come in the shape of Denis Sulta's powerful MSNK, the old-school Chicago spill of Mike Dunn's A Groove, a pounding, compelling Logohitz from Ricardo Villalobos and Robert Hood's sublimely crafted The Pace. A reminder for club and festival bookers to make sure Jackmaster is on their to-book lists.
