Exactly 12 months ago, during the recording of Different Sun, in Broen Studios, in the western Norwegian town of Bergen, a raging hurricane was blowing outside: vicious downpouring of rain, cracks of lightning, thwacks of thunder – the works.
There is a similar bite to the music. Although the Norwegian band operates within the often too-similar confines of psychedelic music, there is a granite punch to songs such as Silent by the River, All of This Has Happened Before and Will Happen Again and Never Fade Away.
There is also the crucial matter of influences to contend with, and while the hands of German psych/prog/space rock acts such as Popol Vuh, Ash Ra Tempel and Amon Duul II direct Electric Eye in a certain direction, the band rarely loses sight of individuality.
