UPC customer numbers climb by 7,600 in third quarter

Company has 352,300 broadband subscribers and 324,500 home phone customers

Media company UPC Ireland added a further 7,600 customers to its broadband, TV and phone services in the third quarter of this year.

The company said total subscriptions to its services rose to a record 1,091,600 in the three-month period, an increase of 7 per cent or 70,100 subscriptions compared to the same quarter a year ago.

UPC, which employs nearly 800 staff in Ireland, now has 352,300 broadband customers, a 10 per cent increase on the same quarter last year.

Some 324,500 customers have now signed up for the company’s home phone services, representing a 22 per cent quarterly growth year on year.

UPC Ireland chief financial officer Carol Grennan said the company is constantly enhancing the range of content and choice available for customers.

“This is reflected in the high take-up of our Horizon TV home entertainment platform which has achieved over 85,000 subscriptions and this now represents more than a quarter of our digital cable customers.”
