Dublin-based technology company SilverCloud Health has launched its web-based therapeutic programmes in the US, in partnership with medical publisher Wiley.

The anxiety management programmes, which were developed in Ireland, will increase SilverCloud’s presence in the US market.

They offer interactive, secure content that includes activities, tools, videos and reflective exercises.

The programmes will leverage Wiley’s library of content along with the clinical expertise from US behavioural health experts. It will be delivered on SilverCloud Health’s technology platform.

"With one in two Americans experiencing a mental health issue, healthcare costs on the rise, increasing regulatory requirements and the physician shortage, these programmes come at the right time," said Ken Cahill, chief executive of SilverCloud Health.

By integrating evidence-based clinical online health solutions into the care path, he said, SilverCloud can help address these issues head on.

The news follows SilverCloud Health’s UK launch earlier this year of a unique suite of customisable online therapeutic programmes to tackle depression and anxiety disorders, developed in collaboration with Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

SilverCloud Health, a spin- off of a collaborative project between the National Digital Research Centre, Parents Plus-Mater University Hospital and Trinity College Dublin, was established in 2012 following more than 10 years of advanced clinical and academic research.

The company counts among its UK customers the NHS, Teeside University, Kingston University and the Ministry of Defence.

The company was shortlisted for The Irish Times InterTrade Ireland Social Innovation awards in 2013.
