LinkedIn says it is on course to employ 1,000 staff in Ireland as it prepares for the opening of its international headquarters in Dublin.

Marking the fifth anniversary in the city, the company said it currently has 100 vacancies, which when filled, will brings its employee numbers in Ireland to 1,000. The roles include sales managers, insight analysts, HR managers, applied scientists and finance managers.

"We started with three employees five years ago. Today we are LinkedIn's largest office outside the United States," LinkedIn's Dublin site lead Sharon McCoey said.

The firm also announced the start of the next phase of construction on its new 17,507 sq metre international headquarters, which is expected to be completed at the start of 2017.

The company has hired 300 new staff over the last 12 months, and now employs over 900 in Dublin in the areas of sales, marketing, engineering, data insights, analytics and management.

IDA Ireland chief executive Martin Shanahan said the decision by LinkedIn to develop and construct its international headquarters in Dublin is “testament to Ireland’s reputation as a global leader in technology and big data”.
