Software firm Infosys is to expand its operation in Ireland over the next three years with the creation of 250 new jobs.
The Indian firm, which already employs 250 here, plans to develop a range of new technologies for the financial sector.
The expansion will see Infosys create up to 95 roles at its first research and development centre outside India.
The R&D centre, which will be established by EdgeVerve Systems, the product subsidiary of Infosys, will focus on FinTech research and development.
The facility will working closely with customers, technology partners, univiersities and the start-up community in various areas of technology.
The company will also open a second Irish facility to house up to 155 staff who will provide IT services to Infosys clients.
Infosys said the new roles were in addition to the 250 employees that are already working for Infosy's Booterstown office, which includes employees that have been transferred from AIB and employees working onsite at client locations in Ireland.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny described the announcement as “a vote of confidence in Ireland” and the State’s workforce, which also enhanced the Ireland’s reputation as a tech hub.
“The Government wants to keep the recovery going by providing the right environment for companies like Infosys to locate, expand and create jobs,” he added.
