Enterprise communications company Damovo has invested €1.5 million in its Irish operation as it targets growth for its global services division.

The company, which offers global managed IT services, unified communications and enterprise networks, said it now supports 76 countries from Ireland, and plans to grow it further by the end of the year.

Ireland is home to one of the group’s global centres of excellence, managing clients in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and the recent growth makes it one of the company’s busiest centres.

More than 700 client sites are managed from the Irish network operations centre, with plans to take that to more than 1,000 by the end of the year. Its global services business is managed from Ireland, with clients such as HP, Verizon, BT and Telefonica.

The €1.5 million investment includes training, systems and software development. The money came from the firm’s own finances, which were left in a healthy state following the takeover by Oakley Capital 18 months ago.

“I think there will be continued growth across the network operations centre to support the new sites coming on board,” said Damovo global services and Ireland managing director John McCabe.

Its global services division in Ireland has already grown to 26, with about half of those taken on in the past 12 months. The firm currently employs just under 50 people here, with more than 400 in the global group. Damovo is not putting a figure on any projected Irish employment growth, but it is targeting revenue of more than €100 million in 2016. That would be an increase from the €92 million in its last financial year.

“Our strategic investments in technical and sales resources across the group are enabling us to build a high-performance business here and this reinvigoration has delivered a marked turnaround in all aspects of our operations,” said Mr McCabe.

“We are thrilled to see the significant growth in the number of countries supported from here. It is a clear endorsement of Ireland’s ability to provide the key skills and service ethos required by both our national and international customers,” he said.
