AMCS Group, a Limerick based waste and recycling management software company, has acquired Transvision, a Danish transport optimisation firm.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Transvision has 60 employees and turnover of €8 million from clients in 12 countries including Denmark and the Netherlands.

AMCS has already partnered with Transvision for several years so it knows how to integrate its software capabilities with the Limerick firm’s platform which is used by 20,000 vehicles on over 2,000 sites worldwide.

"Transvision is absolutely un-paralleled within the industry when it comes to advanced routing and scheduling" Jimmy Martin, the chief executive of AMCS said.

“This acquisition both complements and augments our existing software platform and it provides us with best-in-class capabilities in the areas of route optimisation, materials management and price optimisation,” he added.

AMCS raised €23.5 million in a fundraising round led by Highland Capital Partners (Europe) in January to fuel its international expansion. It has also agreed an €8.25 million funding facility with Silicon Valley Bank, the US-based technology commercial bank. The founded by Jimmy Martin and Austin Ryan and it had revenues of €18 million in 2013.

Mr Martin said the acquisition of Transvision would allow it move into markets other than waste management, recycling and resource recovery.

“Transvision operates in a number of other industries and their leadership position in these sectors introduces new growth opportunities to the group as a whole,” he said.
