A new media show presented by RTÉ business reporter Conor Brophy will begin on Radio 1 this Sunday at 7pm for 13 weeks. It will be made for RTÉ by the independent company Old Yard Productions, which also produces The Business for the station.

"The watchword is accessible," says Brophy, who says The Media Show will be "the story of the what and the how" of the sector and won't have "a patchy tweed-jacket feel about it". The programme will seek to interview "big fish" from the world of print, broadcast and online media over the course of its run, while also taking a look at the media stories of the week.

On the first edition, the show will hear from Irish journalists working for Al Jazeera, NPR media journalist David Folkenflik will guide listeners through the new generation of media moguls and there will be a segment on the art of tabloid headlines and whether clickbait is killing the sub-editing star.

Radio 1’s last media-themed show, produced by the company Athena Media, had two eight-week runs in 2012 and 2013, but was not renewed last year.
