The 93-bedroom Ardmore Hotel at Finglas Road in Dublin 11 is to be converted into a nursing home after being sold for around €5 million.

The hotel was built during the boom by Co Louth developer John McCabe and was sold on the instructions of Nama.

An unrelated company, Ardmore Care Home Group, plans to accommodate around 80 patients in the new home after making structural changes to the building.

The same company, run by businessman John Martin, is planning to extend Dalkey Lodge Nursing Home to cater for around 60 local residents.
