Former Nama official faces trial for leaking confidential information

Charges against Enda Farrell relate to information about developers and Nama’s hotel portfolio

A former Nama official has been served with a book of evidence and returned for trial accused of leaking confidential information.

Enda Farrell (38) with an address in Brussels, Belgium but formerly of Dunboyne, Co Meath, was remanded on continuing bail after he was served with a book of evidence at Dublin District Court today.

The charges relate to information about major developers, Nama's hotel portfolio and properties in Germany.

Judge Cormac Dunne made an order sending the former National Asset Management Agency (Nama) official forward for trial and he was ordered to appear again during the next term of the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court which begins in October.

He faces 13 charges, contrary to the 2009 Nama Act, for disclosing confidential information in May, June and July 2012.

Six of the counts contain allegations of disclosing confidential Nama information in May 2012 to two named men from investment company QED Equity Limited. The information related to the Cosgrave Group and The Harcourt/Pat Doherty Group.

He is also accused of disclosing information relating to Nama's German property portfolio to investment firm, Cannacord Genuity Limited.

He will face charges relating to disclosing information about Belfast-born property investor Paddy McKillen's loans, hotels in Nama, and Nama valuations of Anglo Irish Bank properties to QED Equity limited in June and July 2012.

Mr Farrell is also accused of leaking information relating to the Lexeme Retail Property Portfolio and the O'Flynn Group/Tiger Developments to QED Equity Limited in July 2012.
