The Comer Group plans to create 100 full and part-time jobs at Palmerstown estate over the next year, a hotel it took over from Nama.

Palmerstown house and estate announced yesterday it plans to create 50 full-time jobs at the the hotel and golf resort over the next 12 months, while it will add 50 part-time positions in the run-up to Christmas.

The 50 full-time posts will cover a range of roles in its core hospitality and leisure business, while the part-time jobs will be in the estate's "Santa House Express" attraction that it will be running over six weeks before Christmas.

The company said yesterday it has already sold 7,000 tickets for the Santa experience.

Palmerstown's sales and marketing manager Linda Blanchfield said the business recently put in place a strategic plan to ensure that the hotel and estate were positioned in the right market.

Developer brothers Luke and Brian Comer took over the running of the estate from Nama some 14 months ago.

The agency took control of the 700-acre property near Naas, Co Kildare, from the late Jim Mansfield, who also owned Citywest hotel in Co Dublin.
