Hogan launches new recruitment site for meat processing industry

Butcherrecruitment.com developed to address difficulties in hiring skilled staff

An online recruitment service for Europe's €75 billion meat-processing industry was launched by EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan in Dublin yesterday.

Irish start-up Universal Talent Solutions (UTS) developed the multilingual butcherrecruitment.com platform in response to complaints regarding the slow pace of recruitment.

Managing director Martin Whelan said a common problem experienced by Irish and European meat processors is the availability of skilled staff.

“If you take a 10 per cent attrition level and a 5 per cent growth level, it is estimated that 50,000 new employee appointments are need per annum,” he said.
