Dublin city centre cocktail bar Peruke & Periwig is to undergo significant renovations as part of an investment programme by its parent group.

The bar’s owner, Press Up Hospitality Group, has rebranded as Eclective Hospitality Group, which it said will involve “a distinctive new look that celebrates difference”.

Upgrades to the bar, located on Dawson St, have begun and the exterior of the building is scaffolded as it is being repainted.

The interiors are being “refreshed” with wallpapering and new carpets. The bar will remain open during the renovation period as all work is being carried out during non-trading hours.

Another of its restaurants, Elephant & Castle in Churchtown, Dublin, is also to undergo a refurbishment, which will commence soon.

Business is again expected to trade as normal as works will be conducted during non-trading hours.

Eclective said its new look will involve “a modern and sophisticated new identity” that will reflect the group’s “eclectic mix” of bars and restaurants, now under new management and employing more than 850 people across 24 venues in Dublin.

It said the new identity signals “the next stage” for the group. While each establishment has its own individual style, the name of the wider group was chosen to “celebrate its diverse range of offerings and venues” in the capital.

Eclective chief commercial officer Tristan Jacob said: “We chose the word Eclective carefully, and although not a word in the dictionary, it captures the essence of our group that celebrates different experiences in unique venues for people from all walks of life.”

Eclective chief operations officer Dave Mongan said the development was about “more than just a name change”.

“It underlines all our teams’ commitment to build on what has been achieved to date, creating exciting and vibrant social experiences across the city,” he said. “As we develop the business over the coming years, we will strive to elevate the customer experience.”

Elsewhere, the former Wagamama site in Blanchardstown is set to open with a new name and dining concept later this Spring.
