Sir, – What I hear from fellow citizens, and feel myself, is concern as to whether our Government has certain matters under control.
Immigration and housing are obvious examples and related issues.
That it should take six years to decide if an asylum request is valid and then, after deciding it is not, that a person still remains in the country six months later is a vivid example of what fuels this concern and even fear. Explain why and what’s being done about it.
Piecemeal communications on our housing crisis is another example.
RM Block
If it is an emergency then why not a “Covid-style” communications strategy of a weekly press conference, given by the Minister for Housing himself, reporting on action taken, progress achieved and obstacles encountered in the previous week?
People understand that these issues are complicated, but unnecessarily poor communications only makes matters worse. – Yours, etc,
PETER KELLY,
Straffan,
Co Kildare.
