Past winners shortlisted for Meteors

Three previous winners are among the 10 acts nominated for Ireland’s premier music prize – the Meteor Choice award.

Three previous winners are among the 10 acts nominated for Ireland’s premier music prize – the Meteor Choice award.

Julie Feeney (2006), Adrian Crowley (2010) and Two Door Cinema Club (2011) all feature in the shortlist for the award which will be announced at a special awards ceremony tonight.

Feeney has been nominated for Clocks, Crowley for I See Three Birds Flying and Two Door Cinema Club for Beacon, the chart-topping follow-up to their debut Tourist History, which was both a critical and commercial success.

The Cast of Cheers get their second nomination for Family as do Delorentos for Little Sparks.

Wallis Bird gets her first nomination for her self-titled album which is her third release. Damien Dempsey, a surprise omission from previous shortlists, is nominated for his sixth album Almighty Love.

Twins duo Heathers, Dublin-based songwriter Mumblin' Deaf Ro and Limerick-based band Windings are all first-time nominees.

Among the significant omissions on this year's shortlist were Van Morrison for Born To Sing: No Plan B, Sinead OConnor's How About I Be Me (And You be You) and The Script's third album 3.

Online music video service Muzu.TV has teamed up with Meteor to live stream the awards ceremony which can be viewed on this website from 7.30pm.
