Gardaí investigating a shooting incident at the M1 retail park in Drogheda in February have arrested four men in connection with this investigation.
The men, aged 23-, 23-, 27- and 49-years-old, are detained at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda Stations under the provisions of section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
A number of premises were also searched in Drogheda this morning in connection with this investigation.
Gardaí believe the victim of the attack, a man in his 30s, was shot in the neck as part of a gangland feud in Co Louth. Detectives in Drogheda have been braced for further violence since the attack.
One senior criminal on one side of the feud has been linked to three murders in recent years. The Criminal Assets Bureau is also targeting those on both sides of the dispute.
The attack occurred at 2.45pm on February 26th at the M1 Retail Park, Drogheda. The victim was getting into a white Vauxhall Astra with two other men when a black 132 D VW Passat pulled alongside and shots were fired from it into the Astra.
As the gunman’s car sped off the injured man was driven to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in the Astra where he remained in a serious condition on Tuesday night. The other two occupants of this vehicle were not injured.
