Auction Results:

Tuesday, February 21st: John Weldon Auctioneers, Cow's Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin. Auction of jewellery & silver. A Tiffany diamond ring in its original box, bought in 2007 for US$12,029 (including sales tax) in Tiffany, Fifth Avenue, NY, sold for €4,100 (€2,000-€3,000).

Wednesday, February 22nd: Oliver Usher's Auction Rooms, John Street, Kells, Co Meath. Annual Antiquarian & Rare Book Auction. Some 70 per cent of lots sold. A copy of the State Returns of Dublin Metropolitan Police 1860-72 sold for €820 (€300-€500); A Complete History of the Westmeath Hunt by Edmund F Dease sold for €500 (€400-€600); a signed, first-edition copy of the 1926 novel The Charwoman's Shadow by Lord Dunsany sold for €170 (€130-€150). One of the limited edition (500 copies) of a facsimile version of the Book of Kells in three volumes published in 1950 in Berne, Switzerland, by Urs Graf-Verlag, estimated at €2,500-€3,500, failed to sell.

Wednesday, February 22nd: O'Reilly's Auction Rooms, 126 Francis Street, Dublin 8. Auction of jewellery, watches and silver. Lot 61: a serpent-style flexible armlet set with a 3.20ct Burmese cabochon sapphire and two diamonds of approx. 0.04ct, mounted in 18ct yellow gold sold for €7,300 (€7,200-€8,000); Lot 134, a set of Edwardian garnet and diamond dress studs and cufflinks in a fitted case sold for €3,800 (€3,600-€4,000); Lot 226: an Art Deco diamond bracelet with 15ct approx of diamonds, mounted in platinum, sold for €16,000 (€16,000-€18,000).
