A man charged with a 2007 murder in Limerick told investigating gardaí “no problem” when he was arrested at Shannon Airport on Friday, a court has heard.
Darragh Quinlivan (41), originally from the southside of Limerick city but now living in the Greater Manchester area of England, was brought before a special sitting of Limerick District Court on Saturday.
Det Garda Eoin McDonagh told the court he arrested Mr Quinlivan on Friday at Shannon Airport “for the purposes of charge in relation to the murder of Noel Campion” in April 2007. He said Mr Quinlivan stated “no problem” in response and was taken to Henry Street Garda station in Limerick city.
He said he charged Mr Quinlivan with Mr Campion’s murder at 7.15pm on Friday and the the accused made no reply.

It is alleged that he murdered Mr Campion at the junction of the High Road and the L1066 in Thomondgate on April 26th, 2007.
Mr Campion (34), a father of three from Pineview Gardens, Moyross, was a pillion passenger on a motorbike that was travelling through Thomondgate at the time he was shot. He had criminal convictions for offences including armed robbery.
Judge Patricia Harney granted an order sought by Mr Quinlivan’s solicitor, Sarah Ryan, that recordings of Garda interviews with her client be furnished to his legal representatives. Applications for bail can only be made before the High Court when a person is charged with murder.
Insp Fergal Hanrahan asked that the accused be remanded in custody pending the service of a book of evidence.
Judge Harney granted the application and remanded Mr Quinlivan in custody to appear via video-link before Limerick District Court on Tuesday.
