Former Irish internationals Mark Gleghorne and Iain Lewers fly out this week to Delhi, India, in their bid to be among the first World League champions having been named in England's panel.

Gleghorne and Lewers were capped 73 and 88 caps, respectively, for Ireland before declaring for England and Britain to pursue elite-level opportunities.

While Lewers played at London 2012, this tournament will represent Gleghorne’s biggest event since his switch. He missed the Olympics and last August’s European championships due to injury.

The World League finals are the conclusion of two years of competition with over 60 nations originally participating and gets underway next Friday with eight of the world’s top nations taking part – Ireland were knocked out last summer after finishing in 14th place.
