Three arrested as ‘large amount’ of fraud paraphernalia seized

Suspected cloned credit cards, stolen passports and driving licences found in Donegal

Gardaí in Donegal have arrested three men as part of an investigation into a suspected crime gang.

The men, Romanians aged 31, 24 and 25 were detained following a search of a house in Letterkenny on Tuesday.

Gardaí said a “large amount of fraud paraphernalia” including suspected cloned credit cards, credit cards issued in false names, bank account details, false Romanian identity documents, credit card machines, till rolls and a number of suspected stolen Irish and UK passports and driving licences were recovered during the operation.

Two cars bought using finance which was obtained on bank accounts opened in false names were discovered at the location and seized.

Much of the documentation seized relates to suspected frauds in Northern Ireland.

Investigations which include inquiries with Europol and the PSNI are ongoing.

The three arrested men are being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 as amended and are being held at Letterkenny and Milford Garda stations.
