Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle? People may think being an opera singer is very glamorous – and at times it can be – but it can be quite demanding and you really have to look after your health. My schedule can be quite intense so I am aware of how important it is to take care of myself. This means lots of sleep, lots of water, eating well and keeping alcohol to a minimum – except on my day off.

How often do you exercise? This last year has been hectic with professional engagements and juggling the rest of my life, so exercise definitely has not been a priority. However, lately I have started walking my dog every day. I find it's an effective way of both clearing my head and setting myself up for a productive day. I've also done Zumba, which is great fun. I love dance-based exercise because it doesn't feel like exercise. Do you get your five fruit and vegetables a day? I'm a vegetarian so it's easy enough to get my five a day. I have also become very interested in cooking recently, so I am trying to be adventurous and experiment with new things.

Do you worry? Absolutely. I think as a singer I am probably a bit dramatic and stress myself out over little things. I am very lucky though as my family are very down to earth so they keep me on track. I'm in no danger of ever becoming a diva.

What do you do to relax? On a performance day I have a few little tricks that help me to relax. I try to sleep as late as possible. I avoid certain foods such as dairy and don't drink coffee. I also take time to do breathing exercises, which keep me clam and focused. When I'm not working I enjoy simply spending time with my friends over a good coffee or glass of wine.

What's your worst habit? I have several bad ones but those who know me best would probably say I am quite bossy – in a loving way, of course. I'm also pretty messy; but no one is perfect.
