Rail line closed between Skerries and Malahide are ‘serious incident’

There was major disruption to the northern commuter and Belfast services to Dublin on Thursday morning, as the rail line was closed between Skerries and Malahide.

Irish Rail said the services were disrupted “due to a serious incident on the line being attended by emergency services”.

There incident has caused huge disruption to services between Belfast and Dublin, as well as to commuter services between Dundalk and Drogheda, Co Louth and the capital.

Dublin Bus will honour rail tickets in the affected areas and is working on bus transfers for the Dublin to Belfast services but said significant delays are expected. The company said it does not know what time normal services will resume.

Dart services are not affected, and are operating a full schedule.
