Frozen pitches forced the postponement of three of Saturday’s Irish Senior Cup second round ties, with Pegasus and Hermes’ trips to Limerick and Armagh, respectively, turning out to be futile, with the Ulster tie between Ards and Elks another casualty. The three Leinster-based matches did go ahead, cup holders UCD advancing to the third round with a 2-0 win over Old Alexandra, Nicola Evans and Jeamie Deacon getting their goals.
Loreto bowed out to Railway Union, Emer Lucey getting a late winner, while Corinthian beat Pembroke Wanderers 1-0. Two more Leinster sides suffered away defeats on Saturday, North Kildare beaten 7-0 by Ballymoney and Trinity losing 3-1 to UCC.
