UCD hit by loss of Moran

Colin Moran is out of the UCD team for this evening's Sigerson Cup final in Scotstown (5.30)

Colin Moran is out of the UCD team for this evening's Sigerson Cup final in Scotstown (5.30). Moran has failed to make sufficient recovery from a hamstring injury suffered 10 days ago and is a significant loss in UCD's challenge against the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.

UCD manager Dave Billings has further injury problems to contend with in Paul Navin (Mayo), Dara O hAnnaidh (Wicklow) and Manus Breathnach (Dublin).

UUJ were convincing seven-point winners over UCC in last Wednesday's semi-final and a number of postponed league fixtures last weekend have helped their final preparations. Armagh's Enda McNulty and Aidan and Martin O'Rourke had a free run-in, along with Tyrone's Paul McGurk and Declan McCrossan and Antrim's Kevin Brady.

Midfielder and captain Jim McGuinness is on course for another Sigerson Cup medal having previously won with Tralee IT, and though he is still hampered by a broken finger, manager Adrian McGuckin is almost certain to give him another start.

UCD are still on course for an inter-varisty double, after drawing with UCC in the Fitzgibbon Cup final last Friday. That replay has been set for Wednesday week, April 18th, with the venue to be either Thurles or Nenagh.
