Victory over Georgia attracted an average audience of 209,000 - a women’s record

Ireland’s 11-0 win over Georgia on Tuesday night set records on and off the pitch, with the highest-ever audience for a women’s international tuning in to watch on RTÉ 2.

A peak audience of 340,000 saw Vera Pauw’s side dominate in Tallaght, with an average audience of 209,000 watching the World Cup qualifier.

A crowd of 3,552 braved the elements and clicked through the turnstiles of Tallaght Stadium, as the Republic moved up to second in qualification Group A.

Denise O'Sullivan scored a hat-trick and Katie McCabe a brace, with Kyra Carusa, Lucy Quinn, Saoirse Noonan, Amber Barrett, Megan Connolly and an own goal adding to the scoresheet.
