CRICKET:FORMER IRELAND batsman Eoin Morgan has been named in England's 14-man squad for next week's RSA Challenge One-Day International against his former team-mates at Stormont.

The 22-year-old Dubliner played 23 ODIs for Ireland, the last of which came against Canada at the World Cup qualifying tournament in South Africa in April where he made an unbeaten 84.

After completing his four-year qualification period, he made his debut for England against the West Indies at Bristol in May.

Picked for England’s World Twenty20 squad, he played in the opening defeat to The Netherlands at Lord’s, his only appearance during the tournament.

Morgan has also been picked in the squads for the T20 and ODI series against Australia and the 15-man squad for next month’s Champions Trophy in South Africa.

Paul Collingwood will captain England at Stormont, with the England.

Kevin Pietersen misses out after surgery on a troublesome Achilles’, but Andrew Flintoff is included in the squad, while Kent batsman Joe Denly is in line to win his first cap.

Meanwhile, Ed Joyce’s hopes of resurrecting his England career were dashed when he was left out of the squad for the Champions Trophy. The former Ireland star had been named in the provisional 30-man squad last month and gave the selectors some food for thought last night as he made 94 in Sussex’s 49-run loss to Somerset in a Pro-40 game at Taunton.
