Killester's march continues

No one expected to hear any other result from Clontarf on Saturday except a win for Killester

No one expected to hear any other result from Clontarf on Saturday except a win for Killester. With the ESB League title now sealed and soon to be signed, the 119-98 win over Killarney was always going to be a formality.

The Kerry club travelled to Dublin with just two wins from their 21 games and even though the play remained open for most of the first half, Killester soon made their superiority count.

Star of the Sea have now taken over sole possession of the runner-up spot following the 9886 win over Notre Dame. There was some consolation for Notre Dame yesterday when they came back on court and defeated Sligo 76-69. Anthony Jenkins made his long-awaited return and helped them jump to a 47-32 lead at the half.

The Wildcats may be on a winning tour after already securing the women's league title but they required a nervous spell of overtime before dismissing Killester 62-58. The Dublin club drew level in the final quarter before Catriona White and Jillian Hayes spurred the Wildcats to the victory once the game entered overtime.
